Under 14s march on!

The under 14s continued their rich vein of form with a 9 point victory over McCools at the Cross. The lads top the table with 4 from 4. Our defence did really well with Ruairi McLaughlin controlling the high ball into the full back line with Aaron getting forward for a goal (his brother Peadar could learn from it :-))and James Rushey Doherty immense in the corners. Our half back line of Ryan, Ruairi Campbell and Dean Harvey excellent throughout. The work and tackles they put in may not grab the headlines but they are vital cogs in the big wheel. Our keeper Oran also made telling saves. Our midfield struggled at times but with an improved work rate we managed to improve. Half forwards Adam and Luke Browne worked tirelessly getting back to assist defense but man of the match goes to Ryan Coyle with 4-2 from play. Full forward line of the 2 Caolans and Cody with.a return of 1-4 and creating many other chances. Jack and Tiernan from midfield contributed 2-5. Adam also got a good score. We had a massive squad of 28 today with only 5 subs allowed we couldn’t get everyone on. It’s a squad game and in the upcoming games and local league we will get everyone game time. Our subs today did very well Paul Doherty, Dylan, Oisin, Daire and Gareth McGill making great contributions. In what was a goal feast the lads won 8-13 to 7-7. Well done all and keep working with your management team at training before your next game. Thanks to all supporters who cheered the lads on and to McCools for the sporting game.

Senior Men On Saturday our senior men followed on from there victory against Lifford with a tense 0:9 to 0:8 victory over Na Rossa. Red Hughs played some good football in the first half scoring all six first half points from play but Na Rossa stayed in touch via several frees leaving the score 0:6 to 0:4 in favour of Red Hughs at halftime. In the second half Red Hughs stretched their lead to three points with 20 minutes remaining, but two blackcards inside minutes of each other left Red Hughs unsettled for a brief spell that let Na Rossa narrow the lead to a single point setting up a tense finish. In the final minutes Red Hughs regrouped and held out for a well deserved win after a very good team performance with all subs making a big contribution in the game.
